Today I am wearing my 2016 All-Star cap and I was thinking back to that season when we had some color in our uniforms and caps again.

The last two years have been bland, as far as unis and caps are concerned, Just blah. But there is some good news. Twitter user,, Humberto, let me know that the team is planning to do something special to the uniforms and caps for the 2019 50th anniversary season.

I personally like the blue and gold together a lot. But I would not complain if a brown and gold uniform makes an appearance next year.

As for this year I was super disappointed when the sneak peak at the Padres uniforms and caps came out. I was hoping, during the off-season, that the Padres would have been a little bit creative. The same creativity that brought us the 2016 ALL-STAR unis and caps.

I had hoped that they would have used some form of blue and orange on new uniforms since 2018 is the 20th anniversary of them being in the World Series.

I have my theories and mind you they are only theories, about why we had these bland looking uniforms the past two years.

If these theme games and shitty giveaways to those that do not buy a theme ticket, and are within that 1000 person limit, are any indication as to how things works with the current ownership my theories may be correct.

I would assume manufacturing the Padres blue and white uniforms are cheaper to make than ones with multiple color schemes. Even though most everything the alleged patriotic Padres sells is made in China. How much cheaper can you get than that.

side note- it pisses me off that this team is so patriotic on Sundays and yet their merchandise like most all teams in MLB, are made in China or another foreign country instead of the United States where manufacturing jobs are really needed.

Back to the topic...So whether I am right or well off base I think, after the 2019 season, they should let us fans vote on different styles of uniforms. After all it is our ticket and concessions money that pay for the uniforms and caps for the players. I think we should have our say.

I would vote for a blue and gold variation of the 2016 ALL-STAR uniforms and caps.

But I also love some of the fan-made design suggestions like this one:

In the end I guess we just have to hope and wait to see what our uniforms and caps will look like for the 2019 season and beyond!

I found this post at the 5.5 Hole blog about uniforms written on December 22, 2016 that has some interesting info.

As always, thanks for reading...share if you like!
